Rookie Tyler Warren Already Making a Strong Impression in Preseason

WESTFIELD, Ind. — For rookies in the NFL, training camp can feel like a daily uphill sprint. It’s about learning the playbook, adapting to the speed of the game, and proving to coaches you belong. Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren seems to be checking all those boxes — and doing it with the kind of consistency that gets noticed.

From day one, Warren has been stacking good practices without taking a step back. The 6-foot-4 rookie has been active in the passing game and disciplined in his blocking assignments, earning nods from veterans and coaches alike.

“Really consistent, tough… you don’t see him have a bad day,” said Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson. “He just shows up the same way every day.”

Head coach Shane Steichen has been equally impressed. “He came in wired with a great mentality to get better. He’s awesome in the weight room, the field, with the guys,” Steichen said.

Warren’s mindset is simple, but it’s paying off. “Help the offense. Don’t dwell on anything too long. Each rep matters and you don’t have a lot of them,” he said.

The Colts have been looking for more production from the tight end position, and Warren’s emergence could be a boost for an offense still finding its rhythm. Whether it’s as a red-zone target or an edge blocker to help spring big runs, his versatility is quickly making him a valuable piece of the puzzle.

With preseason game number two on the horizon, Warren’s focus won’t change. It’s still about one rep, one catch, one block at a time — all in the name of helping the Colts’ offense take another step forward.
